Read and write requests via EIP are initiated through program logic in controllers via Explicit Messaging and I/O Messaging (also known as Implicit Messaging). In most cases the MW100 will be working in conjunction with a PLC or controller. When using EIP, the MW100 is a passive device on the Ethernet network in that it does not initiate read or write requests. The MW100 may also act as remote I/O for EIP PLCs and Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs). It is now possible for the MW100 to record data directly from EIP device inputs and registers over an Ethernet network.
